Early Snows hits the Lodge

It looks like we had over 2 inches of rainfall at the Lodge and lots of snow up high. The tracks and trails held up pretty well, but every low spot was a pond! The colors are still wonderful and the contrasting white peaks inspire us to keep training, but ready the Lodge for winter guests!

Wood River Cup Series – Race 2

Let’s face it, it hasn’t felt much like summer here in Sun Valley lately, but tonight the clouds cleared as racers gathered and warmed-up to compete in the 2nd race of the Wood River Cup Series. For those of you that aren’t familiar with this race series, Road & Dirt promotes this fun and competitive cycling event in the Wood River Valley. Not familiar with Road & Dirt? Well, maybe you have had a burger, beer, bike fit or game of Bocce at Powerhouse in Hailey, Idaho. If that’s the case, you probably know Billy Olsen, the owner of Powerhouse, who somehow finds time to promote the Road & Dirt events for all to enjoy. If you aren’t sure about racing, don’t worry, Billy will be the first to let you know that having fans there to cheer on the riders is just as important. I have watched and cheered on friends and strangers for the past few years and I couldn’t agree more, but next week I am going to race. I’ll be the one in the knee-hi bacon socks getting smoked by all the other riders, but it will be the fans that keep me rolling!

Next Race: Wednesday, June 15th

Location: ‎3.5 miles west of Hailey out Croy Canyon on north side of the road.

Time: ‎5:00 – 8:00 PM

Waiting for the Snow to Melt

Winter hangs on in Sun Valley, and the road to the Smoky Mountain Lodge just got plowed last week. While that was going on, some of us headed to the desert mountain biking country of Moab, Utah and Fruita, Colorado to break in our butts! The weather was unusually cool and wet, but riding was superb! We will post another blog from the Lodge tomorrow!

Qualify for USA Cycling Nationals in Sun Valley, Idaho

Idaho locals have 3 upcoming races to qualify for the 2011 USA Cycling Mountain Bike Cross Country National Championships in Sun Valley, Idaho.

RULES:
